A Diamond In The Rough

A quick search on Google for the World’s most expensive diamonds will lead you to a list of the top ten most expensive diamonds.  The top three on the list are the Hope Diamond, the Cullinan, and the Koh-I-Noor, which is also referred to as the Diamond of Babur or Mountain of Light.  The Hope Diamond is listed at a mere $200-$250 million. The Cullinan, the largest rough diamond ever found, is listed at $2 billion. And the price for the Diamond of Babur is listed as unknown, which I am assuming is the same meaning as being priceless.

To my understanding the formation of diamonds, whether they are priceless or not, requires the same three elements, high pressure and temperature, and time.  I am not a geologist so I cannot really outline the exact process it goes through, but I think that provides the general picture.

We often use terms that include the elements of pressure and temperature when we feel overly stressed.  Statements like “That was a real pressure cooker” or “I really had to turn up the heat just to get the project done” reflects either the external or internal pressure we experience in order to perform at a higher level.

It is these internal and external pressures however that help to shape us. That assists us in developing and forming the habits that allow us to reach our goals, and achieve success.  It is true that we must be cautious not to allow the pressure to overwhelm us, but rather use those pressures to develop into the priceless diamond that we all.

So, if you feel that you are under a lot of pressure, and just not seeing the success that you are hoping for, remember the third element in the formation of a diamond.  It takes time.
